We believe that we have a responsibility to help protect our planet, implementing change within our salons, promoting change within the industry and using our platform to educate others along the way.
We vow to continually monitor and reduce our environmental impact by making changes where we can, ensuring that we incorporate environmental factors into all of our business decisions and increasing awareness along the way. Small changes are easy and it grows from there!
In 2021 we became Green Salon Accredited, this is a kitemark that demonstrates that we go above and beyond when it comes to looking after people and planet.
We have been busy making lots of changes to our salon in Chester and you are sure to hear about them when you visit. We have included some information below on the exciting things we have done. If you have any suggestions we are always happy to hear them.
We’ve teamed up with environmental service Green Salon Collective (GSC) to recycle traditionally impossible to recycle items such as hair, foil, chemicals and colour tubes as well as plastic and paper.
GSC recycle waste and work on developing methods to recycle difficult materials, such as creating hair booms that could see hair soaking up an oil spill!
We have EcoHeads fitted to our basins to reduce water usage. On average, EcoHeads reduce water usage by 390 litres per chair per day!
Our heating is adjusted with energy consumption in mind.
We have LED lighting and all lighting and electrical appliances are turned off when not in use. Our appliances are all A+ rated.
We have spent lots of time finding hair products that deliver excellent results whilst remaining environmentally friendly.
Our current range includes Keune and GLOWWA Hair Food, chosen for their excellent sustainability measures.
Cleaning - we use eco friendly cleaning products and a good old fashioned dustpan and brush in our salons.
We have reduced paper usage by switching to electronic consultation forms and email receipts.
Any paper waste we receive in the salon is recycled using GSC.
Our salons are based within village settings and are easily accessible on foot.
For those travelling a little further,
we have bike racks available and our Aldford salon has electronic car charging points too.
“Emma is a forward-thinking, easy-going, and highly motivated person. I've known Emma for almost two years; she's been nothing but genuine and passionate about her sustainability journey. It's clear that Emma is a talented hairdresser, but even more so, she is a keen environmental campaigner. She's given up her time on many occasions to promote sustainability within the industry (Speaking at Pro Beauty in London, Trashy Hairdressers Day) AND demonstrated that her business goes above and beyond by passing the Liminality Accreditation with flying colours! If that wasn't enough, she's even carbon offset her entire team with EcoOffSett.”
